Theory of Knowledge
Our Theory of Knowledge class is designed to introduce you to important concepts specific to TOK. You will also familiarise yourself with the TOK criteria and the TOK essay. This is done through active learning in discussion with the class group. Your tutor will guide you through the different ways to interpret TOK questions and how to apply Ways of Knowing and Areas of Knowledge appropriately. The discussion will ultimately be illustrated and exemplified through use of past TOK essay questions.
By the end of the course you will have a better understanding of TOK and a stronger foundation to begin to write and improve your TOK essay, giving you a better chance to gain the extra IB bonus points. The fee for the TOK class is GBP 79.
Extended Essay - Introduction
To score well on your Extended Essay you need to focus your research question and not drift off topic. The Extended Essay Introduction is a class where we show you how this is done by aiding you in your planning and structuring. It will also walk you through the assessment criteria making sure that you understand what the examiners look for when grading your essay. All so that you can start off your essay in the best possible way giving you great conditions for scoring well on your essay. The fee for the Extended Essay Introduction class is GBP 79.
Extended Essay - Tutorial (one-on-one)
This is a 1 hour, one-on-one tutorial session where you sit down with a tutor that knows the field of your extended essay topic. You will need to submit a draft of your essay at latest 2 weeks prior to arriving at our courses. During this time, your tutor will go through your essay and then give you feedback during the session at our courses. You will talk about your essay, how it reflects the criteria and how it can be improved. The fee for the EE Tutorial is GBP 99.
Study Skills
The study skills class is designed as an inspirational workshop to help you study better. In this class we hope to improve the prospects of struggling students, refresh the enthusiasm of others, and boost the momentum of top-performing students.
The class will entail master-classes on study practices including note-taking and revision processes. We go through many pitfalls of studying, and show you how you can make your studying more efficient. The course will also help you plan more effectively and think about your time-management in more constructive ways. The fee for the Study Skills class is GBP 79.
Writing Lab Reports
In the Group 4 subjects (Chemistry, Biology, Physics, Design Technology and Environmental Systems) your internal assessments account for 24% of your final grade. Being able to write good lab reports will therefore have a large effect on your final grade. In this course you will learn how to interpret the different criteria and what examiners will give you points for. You will learn how to structure, plan and present your reports as well as the dos and don’ts of writing lab reports. The fee for the Writing Lab Reports class is GBP 79.
UK University Application
This class is designed to help you who consider applying to universities in the United Kingdom. The class will be given by a tutor with personal experience of the UCAS system. Your tutor will be on-hand to give specific advice on the application process, general advice on paperwork involved, the courses, and the experience of university itself.
A large portion of the class will be spent working on how to put together your ‘personal statement’, which is the key aspect (along with your grades!) of a UCAS statement. To get the most out of this course we recommend you to prepare a personal statement that you bring to the class. The fee for the UK University Applications class is GBP 79.
Private Tuition (one-on-one)
Even though the Mid-IB Summer Course will take your subject knowledge and confidence to completely new levels, an added private tuition session can make drastic changes and speed up your learning process. The private tuition is a 4 hour long one-on-one session where you receive the tutor’s undivided attention and tailored help. You choose exactly what you wish to go through.
