Practical information regarding the Pre-IB summer course in Sigtuna

When:
You can join us from July 21 to August 5, 2012, over a total of 16 days.

Where:
The pre-IB course is held at the Sigtuna School in Sweden.

Arranged Transportation:
We provide pick-up at the Stockholm Central Station on your first day and drop-off on your final day.

The Pre-IB summer courses in Sweden provide IB students with excellent final year preparation making it a well appreciated ib summer school.

Our Pre-IB Summer Course will run from July 21st to August 5th, 2012.

The Location of the Pre-IB Course

The Pre-IB Summer Course in Sweden is held at the prestigious IB World School Sigtunaskolan Humanistiska Läroverk. It is located in the calm and picturesque town of Sigtuna.

Arranged Pick-up & Drop-off

In order to make your traveling easier and more convenient, we arrange transportation from The Stockholm Central Station to the course centre at Sigtuna. On the first day of your first course, at 16:30 we will meet up with you at the Stockholm Central Station, together with all the other course participants. We will then travel together to Sigtuna, where the mid-ib courses are held. On the last day of your final course, we will drop you off at the Stockholm Central Station no later than 11:00 in the morning. Please plan your transportation and make your travel plans accordingly.

  • We pick you up at the Stockholm Central Station at 16:30 on July 21st. (You should be there at least 15 minutes in advance)
  • We drop you off at the Stockholm Central Station at 11:00 on August 5th.

Location of the pick-up & Drop-off

The gathering point at the Stockholm Central Station is located just outside the main entrance facing Vasagatan, by the fountain. You will receive a more detailed map in your booking confirmation letter.

Tuition free day

There is no tuition on July 26th and July 31st. On these two days we organise day trips which you can read more about at our trips and activities page. Should you not wish to attend then you are free to hang out at the course center.

How to get to the Pick-up & Drop-off location

The pick-up and drop-off location at the Stockholm Central Station is easily accessed from the various nearby airports, train connections and buss connections. Please ensure to book your connecting flights/trains with plenty of margin with respect to the pick-up and drop-off times given above. Should you arrive much earlier there is a possibility to store your heavy luggage in lockers at the Stockholm Central Station.

By Plane

From Arlanda Airport we recommend that you take the Arlanda Express. This direct train service to the Stockholm Central Station is the quickest and the most convenient connection. The tickets cost SEK 130 and can be purchased at the airport. There are also coach services which take about 45 minutes and cost SEK 79. These tickets can also be purchased at the airport.

From Bromma Airport, Skavsta Airport or Västerås Airport you can easily make your way to the Stockholm Central Station using airport coaches (tickets can be bought at the airports). The journey time to the Stockholm Central Station from Bromma is approximately 30 minutes, and from Skavsta or Vasterås it is approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes. You can then make your way to the pick-up location at the entrance to the Central Station facing Vasagatan.

By Train

If you travel by train then your stop will most likely be at the Stockholm Central Station. From your platform you can make your way to the pick-up location at the entrance to the Central Station facing Vasagatan.

What to bring

Make sure to bring the following:

  • Toiletries
  • Laundry detergent for washing your clothes
  • Bathing clothes & towels (we provide linens and bedsheets)
  • Pocket money for vending machines and small purchases such as ice cream
  • Extra money for the day trips (make sure you bring some lunch money as this is not included on the day trips)
  • Insurance papers
  • Stationary, notebooks and textbooks (if you would like)
  • Calculator

Insurance

Make sure that you have and that you bring along valid travel and health insurance to our courses.

Visa

If you are traveling from a country within the European Union, you will not need a visa to enter the customs. If you are not coming from a country within the European Union, make sure to visit this site to get information on visas.
