We invite everyone who is interested in tutoring with us to complete an application form allowing us to initially assess relevant skills and experience. The top tutor applicants are then invited to interview with us. During this process candidates’ teaching abilities are assessed and we evaluate key qualities needed such as communication, knowledge and passion. Only those who excel in all areas of their teaching are then accepted; we turn many candidates away after this stage, even some who have scored the full 45 points in their IB diploma. Only 30-40 tutors will be accepted each year. We pride ourselves on only accepting those applicants who are truly outstanding on to the Lanterna team.
All new tutors must attend a full day’s training before tutoring for the first time, ensuring that they use all the necessary skills and attributes to make their classes the best they can be. After this, tutors receive continuous support and feedback through our mentoring program and regular evaluation sessions. In this way we guarantee that all our tutors are able and ready to perform at their absolute best from day one.
